Everything you need to know about Adaptive Prep and the CISSP exam in one place.
About the Platform
Most platforms give you a static bank of questions in random order. Adaptive Prep's engine adjusts in real time based on your performance — showing harder questions where you're strong and reinforcing concepts where you're weak. This mirrors how the actual CISSP CAT exam works, and means every session moves you forward more efficiently than static practice ever could.
Yes. Our question bank is continuously reviewed and updated to align with the latest ISC² CISSP Exam Outline. We track ISC² updates and reflect changes in domain weightings promptly — you'll never be studying outdated material.
Absolutely. Adaptive Prep is fully responsive and works great on any device — desktop, tablet, or smartphone. Your progress syncs automatically across all devices, so you can study on your laptop at home and pick up exactly where you left off on your phone during your commute.
Adaptive Prep is designed for professionals who already have foundational security experience — the CISSP requires 5 years of paid experience in 2+ CISSP domains to sit the exam. Our platform works best alongside official study materials like the ISC² CBK or Shon Harris/Mike Chapple guides. If you're preparing the study material and need practice questions to test your knowledge, this is exactly the tool for you.
The readiness score is a composite metric that combines your domain accuracy scores, performance on full-length practice exams, and trend data over your recent sessions. We recommend aiming for 80%+ before scheduling your real exam. Our data shows students who reach this threshold are well-positioned to pass.
Pricing & Access
Both plans are single one-time payments — no recurring charges, no hidden fees. Standard gives you 12-month access for $79. Pro gives you 12-month access for $200. You pay once and study without interruption.
The short answer is because the CISSP exam questions are similarly difficult. You likely will not see even one slam dunk / no brainer question on the exam. Understanding the material is truly only half the battle. Fine tuning your reading comprehension and strategic mindset skills will complement your extensive content study.
Your CAT scores are not guaranteed to translate to your actual exam scores. The questions were expertly written to provide you with an authentic exam prep experience. Most test takers believe our questions were of equal or greater difficulty than the actual exam.
The Readiness Score is a calculation of your highest CAT score plus a small bonus based on the number of completed practice questions. This score is not a guarantee of your actual exam results. Your percentile score is a measure of where you stand in comparison to other Adaptive Prep users.
If you are not able to start a CAT exam, you most likely only purchased the $99 question bank subscription. You can upgrade to full access via this link or by clicking the "Upgrade Now" button on the exam Home page.
Yes. Contact us and we'll apply your Standard payment toward Pro — you only pay the $100 difference. Your progress data, bookmarks, and history carry over completely.
Your account becomes inactive but all your data is preserved. You can re-enroll at any time to regain access — your progress history, bookmarks, and analytics will all still be there.
About the CISSP Exam
CISSP uses a Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) format. The exam starts at medium difficulty and adjusts based on your answers. It has between 100–150 questions and a 3-hour time limit. You can pass or fail at any point after question 100 if the algorithm has enough confidence in your performance level. The passing decision is based on demonstrated competency across all 8 domains.
Most candidates study for 3–6 months. ISC² doesn't publish a question count for their bank. For Adaptive Prep, Standard includes 700+ questions and Pro includes 1,000+. We recommend using the Exam Readiness Score (target 80%+) rather than a fixed question count as your benchmark for scheduling the real exam.
ISC² requires 5 years of cumulative, paid work experience in at least 2 of the 8 CISSP domains. If you don't yet meet this requirement, you can still pass the exam and become an Associate of ISC², then fulfill the experience requirement within 6 years. Adaptive Prep is appropriate for both paths.
